Bigger Dot: how to grow, split and survive the arena
Eat food and smaller cells, split to strike, eject mass to bait — a practical guide to Bigger Dot's controls, four modes and splitters.
Bigger Dot is an arena game with one simple law: if you are bigger, you can swallow; if you are smaller, you run. You start as a small cell in a crowded field, eat food and smaller rivals to grow, and try to stay large without becoming someone else's meal. Play it in your browser or on iOS and Android.
Steering: pick the pad that suits your thumb
There are two controller styles, and you can swap between them at any time with the pad switch in the corner:
- M-pad — aim at a point on the screen and your cell heads there.
- C-pad — a floating stick. Touch any empty spot to place it under your finger, drag to steer, and lift to send it back to its corner.
With a mouse or trackpad the same pads work with the pointer.
Two moves that change everything
- Split breaks your cell into pieces that move faster — the way to catch prey that is running away.
- Eject throws out a little mass. Use it as bait, to clear a path, or to fool another cell.
Splitting is also the riskiest thing you can do: each piece is smaller than the whole, so a bigger hunter can pick them off.
Watch the splitters
Brown splitters grow from the food around the map. Green splitters punish big cells that swallow them carelessly. Eating an explosive splitter can burst you into several parts, and when you are small a dangerous splitter can swallow you instead.
Four modes
- Classic — Grow without limit in an open arena
- Time Attack — Score as much as you can in three minutes
- Hardcore — Pieces never merge again after a split
- Bot Battle — Sit back and watch AI cells fight it out
Tips from the arena
- While you are small, stay close to food clusters and only challenge a cell you clearly outsize.
- After a split, protect your largest piece first.
- In Time Attack, dense food lanes beat long chases.
- In Hardcore, every split is permanent: split only when the catch is certain.
- After a hard fight, rest at the edge of the map and come back to the busy centre when you have a clear size advantage.
Leaderboard and style
Pick a display name to post your scores to the season leaderboard. Only scores from real players are listed there. Arena bots stay in matches for practice, but their results never appear on the board. You can also change your cell's outline, body colour and core shape so you can spot yourself in a busy field.
