Cozy Snooze: stars, doors and how to keep the Booplings out
Your bed pays 4 stars every 2 seconds, the first Booplings knock after about 18 seconds, and the night only ends badly if one reaches your bed. How a level works and what to build first.
Cozy Snooze is a gentle tower defense on an 8 by 11 grid. You are asleep in a dorm room, Booplings wander down the hallway, knock on doors and try to reach your bed. You spend stars on defenders, keep your door standing and complete the goals of each level. You can play it in your browser.
How a night works
- You start with 100 stars. Your bed adds stars every 2 seconds: +4 per tick at the start, more once you upgrade the bed. Each Star Lamp (up to 3) adds to every tick as well.
- The first Booplings arrive after about 18 seconds. New groups then come every 20 seconds at first, closer and closer together until one arrives every 6 seconds, and the groups get bigger.
- A Boopling that can't break a door within 15 to 30 seconds gives up and runs away.
- Your neighbours have doors too, and Booplings often try those first. The badges at the top show how each room is doing.
- Your door is the last line. If it breaks and a Boopling reaches your bed, the lights go out and the night is over.
The four goals of a level
Each of the 30 levels has four targets: stay asleep for a set time, catch a number of Booplings, build a number of items and make a number of upgrades. Level 1 asks for 50 seconds, 3 catches, 2 builds and 1 upgrade; the hardest levels ask for up to 8 minutes. Every level also has a focus (balanced, survive, hunter, builder or upgrade) that raises one of the targets, so read the goals before you place anything. Once all four are done you can end the night or keep going.
What you can build
- Pillow Turret (50 stars) fires on its own but needs energy ⚡. Cookie Generators (45 stars) fill the energy pool, so build them next to your turrets. The bigger turrets cost 2, 5 and 20 times as much and use 2, 5 and 20 energy per shot.
- Plush Trap (35 stars) goes in the hallway. It hits hard and slows Booplings down, and has 4 uses at level 1.
- Dream Catcher slows Booplings around it, Night Lantern makes turrets hit Wiggle Booplings 30% harder, and Totem Ward pushes Booplings back every few seconds.
- Cloud Patch heals 25% of your door for 40 stars, then needs 20 seconds to recharge.
- Removing an item gives back half of what you paid for it.
Four kinds of Booplings
- Bouncy: the standard visitor.
- Wiggle (from wave 4): quicker but more fragile.
- Chunky (from wave 8): slow, very tough, and the hardest hitter on doors.
- Whisper (from wave 12): the fastest and the frailest.
A calm opening
Use the first 18 seconds for one turret and one generator, then put a trap in the hallway in front of your door. Upgrade the bed early, because more stars per tick pays for everything else. Once the bigger groups start, keep 40 stars aside so a Cloud Patch is always ready.
