Fun Haircut: hitting the match, keeping a combo and earning three stars
A salon game where you cut, grow and dye hair toward a named style. How the match percentage works, what each tool does, and exactly what each star asks of you across 25 levels.
Fun Haircut puts a customer in your chair and names a style for each level: a bob, bangs, a mohawk, a surfer cut and so on. You shape the hair with salon tools until it is close enough to that style, then press Finish. You can play it in your browser.
The match percentage
The number in the top-left corner is everything. On a normal level it measures how close every strand's length is to the length the style wants on that part of the head. On a dye level it is 72% length and 28% color, and a second line shows the color match on its own.
So it is not about cutting a lot. A strand left too long and a strand cut too short both cost you the same way.
Tools
- Scissors cut the strands your stroke crosses, at the point where you cross them. Small brush, good for detail.
- Clipper works the same way with a brush almost twice as wide. Use it for the short sides of an undercut or a mohawk.
- Grow lengthens strands near your finger. This is how you fix a strand you cut too short.
- Comb, Part and Dryer change the direction hair falls, not its length.
- Dye paints the strands under your finger in the chosen color.
- Look swaps the whole head to a sample hairstyle, then lets you change density, texture (straight, wave or curl) and color.
Scalp misses
If a stroke cuts a strand down to nothing where the style still wants hair, that is a scalp miss. Each one takes 25 points (up to 180 in total) and they also limit your stars, so cut from the tips inward, not straight at the scalp.
Combo
A stroke counts as good when it shortens hair that is still too long, or grows hair that is still too short. Good strokes close to the previous one raise the combo. A stroke that touches hair without helping, for example cutting a strand that is already short enough, resets it to zero. Working one area of the head at a time with steady strokes is what keeps the combo climbing.
Score
| Part | Points | |---|---| | Match | up to 700 | | Color (dye levels only) | up to 120 | | Combo | 8 per step of your best combo, up to 200 | | Hard level | +40 | | Scalp misses | −25 each, up to −180 |
Stars
Each level has its own target match, from 72% on the first bob to 88% on the last level.
- One star: reach the level's target match with fewer than 6 scalp misses.
- Two stars: beat the target by 8 points and reach a combo of 6.
- Three stars: a match of at least 92%, no more than one scalp miss, and a combo of 10.
On dye levels, a color match under 70% caps the result at one star, however good the cut is. Only your best result per level is kept.
Salons and levels
There are five salons with five levels each, 25 in total. One star is enough to open the next level, and clearing the fifth level opens the next salon. The fifth level of every salon is a hard one with a higher target.
| Salon | Styles | Target match | |---|---|---| | Sunny Kids Salon | bob, bangs, bowl, pixie, bob | 72% to 82% | | Neon Barbershop | undercut, mohawk, spike, undercut, mohawk | 74% to 84% | | Beach Shack Cuts | surfer, bob, surfer, pixie, surfer | 74% to 84% | | Royal Parlor | royal, bangs, royal, round volume, royal | 76% to 86% | | Comic Studio Salon | spike, mohawk, round volume, bangs, spike | 78% to 88% |
Dye levels are in the first two salons: pink on Sunny level 4, blond on Sunny level 5, and purple, cyan and magenta on Neon levels 2, 4 and 5.
Quick tips
- Watch the match number while you cut. When it stops going up, you are cutting the wrong area.
- For a mohawk, clip the sides down and leave the center strip alone.
- On a dye level, get the color done early: it is a quarter of the match and it decides whether more than one star is possible.
- Overcut a strand? Switch to Grow for a moment rather than starting again.
Finished looks are saved to your gallery (up to 24), and the leaderboard has an all-time tab and a season tab. More on the Fun Haircut page, or play now.
