Memory Grove: a moonlit game of watching and remembering

Watch the animal medallions glow, then tap them back in order — or in reverse. Inside Memory Grove's 32 trials, hearts, stars and the Endless Path.

Memory Grove is a sequence-memory game set beneath lantern leaves and a pale moon. A circle of illustrated animal medallions lights up one by one; you hold the order in your head and tap it back. It is easy to understand and quietly demanding as the patterns grow. Play it in your browser or on Android.

The Moon Trail

The campaign has 32 trials across four habitats: Pet Porch, Farm Lanterns, Forest Echoes and Safari Moon. Early trials use short patterns and generous timing. Later ones add more medallions, longer sequences and a shorter glow between steps.

Before each trial, a briefing plaque tells you exactly what is coming: the number of medallions, the target length, par time, your heart allowance and the direction of the sequence. No surprises — the challenge is your memory, not the interface.

Forward and reverse

  • Forward trials: repeat the glow from first to last.
  • Reverse trials: watch the whole pattern, then enter it from last to first.

Reverse feels very different with the same animals. The instruction stays visible above the board, so you always know which way you are going.

Three hearts and a second look

Each attempt has three leaf hearts. A wrong medallion costs one heart — and the grove immediately shows the correct sequence again. That replay turns a mistake into a lesson, so use it: watch the part you got wrong rather than looking away.

Stars, Endless Path and the Field Guide

  • Each trial awards up to three stars for accuracy, damage and pace. Replaying can improve a stored result, never lower it.
  • The Endless Path keeps extending the pattern for personal-record runs.
  • The Field Guide holds 32 animal portraits; the ones you have met become clear, the rest stay softly hidden.
  • Star Rankings compare total campaign stars under a nickname you choose. Progress is kept even if the connection drops.

Memory tips

  • Group the sequence into chunks of three or four instead of one long string.
  • Say the animals' names quietly in your head as they glow.
  • For reverse trials, build the whole chain first, then read it backwards.

There is also a Reduced Motion setting. More on the Memory Grove page, or walk the first trail.
