Guide
Tide Cast: your rod decides how deep you can fish
Your starter rod reaches 42% of the depth, but the Myth Tide King lives below 88%. How the cast, hook and reel loop, upgrades and the Fishdex fit together.
Tide Cast is a calm fishing game across five glowing waters. The rhythm is simple: cast, wait, hook, reel. What keeps it interesting is depth: your rod decides how far down your line can sink, and the legendary fish live near the bottom. Play it in your browser.
One cast, start to finish
- Cast. Tap to throw the line from the pier and let it sink.
- Hook. When the float jerks, tap Hook! while the bite window is open.
- Reel. Hold to reel in. Nudge the line (the arrow keys work too) to keep it inside the moving reel zone until the fish is landed.
Every catch shows its species and weight. Landing fish in a row builds your combo.
Five waters, 35 levels
The waters are Sunny Pier, Mangrove Creek, Coral Shelf, Storm Jetty and Moonlit Abyss, with 6, 7, 7, 7 and 8 levels. Each level gives you between 6 and 10 casts and has three star targets, so there is always a reason to replay an earlier level once your gear is better.
What each upgrade really does
Rod, line and bait each have five tiers, and every step costs more than the last (40, 90, 180, then 320).
- Rod: depth. Tier 1 reaches 42% of the water, then 55%, 68%, 82% and finally the bottom.
- Line: strength. A stronger line holds up longer while a big fish fights, up to 2.35 times the starting line.
- Bait: time and rarity. Better bait widens the bite window from 0.55 to 1.3 seconds and makes rare fish turn up more often.
If you keep missing the hook, upgrade bait first. If big fish keep escaping during the reel, upgrade the line. If you want legendaries, the rod comes first.
The Fishdex and the deep legendaries
The Fishdex has 30 species in five tiers: 6 common, 7 uncommon, 6 rare, 6 epic and 5 legendary. Rarer fish score more: uncommon ×1.6, rare ×2.4, epic ×3.8 and legendary ×6.
The legendaries all live deep. Sapphire Pike appears from 68% depth, Thunder Marlin from 70%, Tide Serpent from 75% and Opal Sturgeon from 80%. The Myth Tide King only lives below 88%, which only a tier 5 rod can reach. Empty Fishdex slots show which species you are still missing.
The season leaderboard
The season board compares your score with other players. There are no computer-controlled anglers in the game, so every name on it is a real player.
