Crystal Arkanoid: three stars come from the clock, not the score
How the 64 campaign levels get tougher, what each hit is worth, where to spend the one hammer per level, and why finishing with 30 seconds left matters more than a big score.
Crystal Arkanoid is a classic brick breaker: drag the paddle along the bottom, keep the ball in play and clear every crystal brick on a 10 × 8 board. There are 64 campaign levels, each with a timer and three lives, plus an Arcade mode. You can play it in your browser.
How the levels get harder
- Levels come in groups of eight. In levels 1–8 every brick breaks in one hit; each new group adds one more hit, up to 8 hits from level 57. The brick colour shows how many hits are left, from light blue (1) to rose (8).
- From level 20, every fourth level (20, 24, 28…) adds one more hit to every brick on top of that.
- The clock grows with the levels too: 210 seconds in the first group, 22 seconds more per group.
- There are eight brick layouts (full rows, a checkerboard, a staircase, a hollow frame, a pyramid and so on) that repeat in order, so level 9 looks like level 1 but with tougher crystal.
Points
- 10 for each hit that cracks a brick without breaking it.
- 50 for each brick you break.
- 10 every time the ball touches the paddle.
Each level has a target score (485 on level 1, 85 more for each level after that).
Stars
Clearing a level always gives at least one star. Reaching the target score makes it two. But if you clear the board with 30 seconds or more still on the clock, you get three stars, whatever your score. Your best result per level is kept, and clearing a level unlocks the next one, so you can come back later for the missing stars.
Aiming with the paddle
The ball does not speed up, so control is everything. Where it lands on the paddle decides the angle: the centre sends it almost straight up, the edges send it out steeply to the side. Use the edges to reach the last bricks in a corner instead of waiting for a lucky bounce. Losing a ball costs a life, but the bricks you broke and your score stay. When the lives or the clock run out, the level is over.
The hammer
From level 3 on you get one hammer per level (Arcade mode has one too). Tap the hammer button, then tap any brick: it shatters at once, however many hits it had left. Save it for the end of a level, when one or two tough bricks sit in a spot the ball keeps missing. That is usually where the 30 seconds for the third star are lost.
Arcade
Arcade is a quick 180-second round on the first board with the hammer ready, good for warming up before a hard campaign level.
