Marble Breaker: matches, combos and the eight paths
Three of a colour pop, the chain only gets longer when your shot doesn't match, and the combo keeps climbing as long as every shot lands a match. How the eight levels and the scoring work.
Marble Breaker is a marble shooter. A chain of coloured marbles rolls along a winding path, and you fire marbles into it from the launcher. Clear the whole chain before its front marble reaches the end of the path. You can play it in your browser.
The rules
- Aim and tap to shoot. A marble that touches the chain slots in where it hits.
- Three or more marbles of the same colour side by side pop. The gap closes, and if that brings three of one colour together again, they pop as well. Each pop in that chain reaction counts as one wave.
- The small marble beside the launcher is your next shot. Tap the launcher to swap it with the current one.
- The path never adds new marbles. The chain only grows when a shot sticks without making a match.
- If the front of the chain reaches the end of the path, the level is lost. Tap to try the same level again; your score is kept.
Eight levels, eight paths
| Level | Path | Colours | Marbles | |---|---|---|---| | 1 | A rising bow | 1 | 7 | | 2 | The letter S | 2 | 9 | | 3 | An orbit around the centre | 2 | 10 | | 4 | The letter M | 3 | 11 | | 5 | The letter Z | 3 | 12 | | 6 | A cascade to the right | 4 | 13 | | 7 | The letter O | 4 | 14 | | 8 | A grand wave | 5 | 16 |
The chain also rolls a little faster on every level. Your launcher only ever loads colours that are used on the current level, so on level 1 every shot is a match.
How the score adds up
- Every wave is worth at least 30 points, more when it pops more marbles, and that is multiplied by your combo.
- The combo goes up by one for each wave and carries over from shot to shot as long as every shot makes a match. A shot that sticks without a match, or flies off the screen, resets it to zero.
- Clearing a level adds a bonus of 200 points, plus 50 more for each level after the first, so 550 on level 8.
- After level 8 the game starts again at level 1 with a fresh score. Your best score is saved on your device.
Three tips
- Since only unmatched shots make the chain longer, a careful shot is worth more than a fast one, especially with five colours on level 8.
- When the current marble has no good spot, swap: the next one may fit.
- Look for a group whose removal will bring two groups of the same colour together. The cascade adds a wave, and the wave adds to your combo.
