Orbit Hopper: charge, moon rims, quest loot and how the five belts unlock
Each hop costs one charge. Land on a rim, pick the stage's quest items before three bot racers do, dodge meteors, and earn the stars that open the next belt.
Orbit Hopper is a side-view orbital hopper. You ride the rim of a moon, aim along its orbit, then hop to another moon — spending charge every time you leave. You can play it in your browser.
Controls and charge
- Aim: drag around the planet, or use the arrow keys. A yellow arrow shows the hop direction.
- Hop: tap, click or press Space. Each hop costs 1 charge.
- Snap: while flying, you stick to a moon rim when you meet it. Miss every rim and you fall into the void.
- Charge: you start each stage with 6. Standing on a rim lets you pick a green Charge pip to refill one (up to 6). Running out of charge with no pip under you ends the run.
Hops that land cleanly build a chain; each landing adds 20 × chain to your score, so short, accurate hops pay more than long panic jumps.
Loot only while landed
Loot sits on rims. You may pick it only while snapped to that moon — not mid-flight. Charge pips are fuel, not quest goals. Signature loot (amber, frost, neon, coral, void dust, pearls, ore and the rest) counts toward the stage card on the left.
Loot respawns after a few seconds (about 4.5 s on Amber Belt, down to 3 s on Void Choir). Three bot racers collect the same targets, so a slow loop around one moon often loses the race even if you stay alive.
The five belts
| Belt | Moons | Time limit | Quest (collect) | |---|---|---|---| | Amber Belt | 7 | 90 s | 3 amber, 2 ore, 1 pearl | | Ice Halo | 8 | 100 s | 4 frost, 2 pearl, 1 amber | | Neon Nebula | 9 | 110 s | 4 neon, 2 void dust, 2 coral | | Coral Orbit | 9 | 120 s | 5 coral, 3 pearl, 2 ore | | Void Choir | 10 | 130 s | 5 void dust, 3 neon, 2 frost, 2 amber |
Later belts add more meteors on their own orbits and occasional ghost moons that are harder to read. Clear the quest list to finish; finishing also pays a +200 score bonus and locks in your race place against the bots.
Stars and unlocking
Stars are awarded only if the quest clears. A failed run stays at 0, so the next belt stays locked.
- Clearing the quest gives 2 stars by default.
- You get 3 stars if you finish in 1st place, or if you still have more than 20 seconds on the clock when the quest completes.
- Belt N+1 unlocks when belt N has at least 1 star saved.
Point at the next glowing world before you hop, pick loot the moment you land, and keep one charge in reserve for a bad snap — that is usually enough to open Ice Halo on the first honest clear.
